Donations of goods:
|
While donations are essential to keep the charity shop stocked
and to allow CART's work to continue, there are few things
that we can not accept. To comply with Health and Safety Regulations,
we can not take:
- Prams, pushchairs or baby seats
- Furniture without a 'fire retardant' safety label
- Large electrical goods ie.fridges, freezers,
TVs, Hifis etc.
If you have something large to donate, or are in doubt as
to whether something would be suitable, please check at the shop
first or ring on Thursdays and ask for Susan or George on 01484 423453.

Books:
 |
The communities that
CART send aid to are in need of educational
and children's books and any donations of these are
greatly appreciated, and will always be used in Africa. Unfortunately
we only have room for educational
and children's books and can not accept cookery, gardening,
novels and so on.
Perhaps for obvious reasons, there are certain types of books that we can not accept for Africa. These include perhaps for obvious reasonst: diet, food, war, horror, home improvements, tourist guides, British History, British Wildlife, and UK routemaps.

| Electrical goods: |
As all items have to be tested before they can be re-sold only a limited quantity are handled each month – please check that there is space to accept goods before you leave them. Only small /medium TV’s can be physically handled. We do not accept fax or photocopy machines – consumables and spare parts are not readily available in many African countries.

sales. If you would like to donate furniture please phone the

Financial Support |
We are deeply grateful to all our supporters. In particular
we would like to take this opportunity to thank people who
donate through their bank as these are not acknowledged in
the same way as gifts that arrive in the mail so thank
you all!
It is possible to contribute to CART through your bank with
a standing order or through Payroll Giving Schemes operated
by your employer. To do the latter you have to nominate CART
as a chosen recipient for your donation and the amount you
choose will be paid without tax deducted. Currently the government
will match your donation by 10%. If you would like information
about any of these methods of making a contribution please
contact the treasurer, Alan Sims, on 01484 609235. All taxpayers
can request TAX BACK on their donation. For each pound given
28p is refunded by the government to CART.
To contribute to CART through your bank account via standing
order (a regular amount every week) please download and print
the standing
order form (Word doc, 30kb) and post it to the address
on the form. All donations are used specifically for relief
work - CART has no salaried
employees and all administrative costs are met personally
by the trustees. |
Thank You!
